West Highland Tea Company is family-run business based in the fishing village of Mallaig, found at the end of the idyllic ‘Road to the Isles’. With over 50 teas in our specialist selection, we’re passionate about bringing a taste of the world to our home in the Highlands and showcasing some of the finest flavours that tea has to offer. All of our tea is carefully packaged by our small and dedicated team in our Tea Studio in Mallaig - and all artwork and designs that feature on our packaging is created by Rachael Robertson, founder of the West Highland Tea Company.

Established in April 2020, The West Highland Tea Company came from Rachael’s love of tea. Having travelled to China, Japan, and India, Rachael’s adventures fuelled her fascination and knowledge of tea. Returning to her home in Mallaig, she saw that there was a unique opportunity for her to share her experience and passion for tea with the community.

Over the last few years, we’ve strived to stand out from the crowd and our much bigger competitors. And we hope to do so with our 14 hand-blended teas! Our special blends are carefully crafted by us and many of these teas are inspired by our local area and it’s stunning scenery. We love our original recipe teas because although our ingredients are from far and wide, these special blends allow us to share some Scottish taste with our customers, and also allows them to take a bit of the Highlands home with them.

Join Our Team at The West Highland Tea Company!

Location: Mallaig, Scotland
Position: Chef – Sandwiches, Soups, Cakes, Gelato, Tea Blending
Employment Period: March 17th – October 30th (with potential for ongoing employment)

Working Pattern: Full or part-time - variable working hours between 08:00 and 17:00.

Pay: Negotiable and depending on experience.

What You'll Do:

Prepare a variety of mouth-watering sandwiches, soups and cakes.
Create and serve refreshing gelato treats.
Blend and package exceptional teas with a creative twist.
Experiment with tea and food pairings to bring new ideas to the menu.
Work in a supportive environment where we encourage creativity and innovation in the kitchen.

Position: Tea-rista (Tea Studio Assistant)

Location: Mallaig, Scotland

2 roles available

Part-time 5 days a week (more details to be discussed at interview stage.)

Pay:

Under 16 Year Olds: National Minimum Wage

16 Year Olds and over: £12.60 (Real Living Wage)

Who we're looking for:

Applicants must be dynamic, enthusiastic and willing to undertake a range of different tasks including but not limited to serving food & drink, tea and barista roles, dishwashing, customer enquiries/relations, cleaning, and cashier based roles. Staff will be expected to have an enthusiasm and desire to learn about all things tea and all things under the West Highland Tea Company umbrella.

Team work and positive attitudes is an essential part of the job, as well as an understanding of food hygiene and safety. Previous experience is desired but not essential, training will be provided for all staff.
